By some twist of fate, two Gopher editors found themselves listening to a strange lecture on independent and self-produced music projects curated by cult creature, performer and sometime alchemist Internet2 this weekend. Despite the longish presentation sets – we sat through several – and the presenter’s strange choice of player (WinAmp? Really?) we had some laughs and came out kind of obsessed with Spanish music project Retrato Robot. Retrato’s bleeps and bloops made us feel like someone should design some sort of dancing Space-Invaders type game to pair with this. The brain(s?) behind this kooky mashup of iconic Spanish, Latin American and global cult tunes remain(s?) a mystery, but they do have a MySpace where you can stream their whole album “The Essential Retrato Robot 1.0″ and it links to a Rapidshare file in case you want to keep these tracks four-evarrrr. We’re especially looking at you, kid with the Atari design skills. Hustle!

What's on the menu?

What's in this thing, you ask? Well, we've got images, and features, and interviews, and articles, and short bits, and long bits, video posts, sound posts, lists and series, the local, the worldly, the controversial, the inane, and sometimes, if you look closely, the not-fit-for-print (which, of course, we'll just print anyways). Mostly old stuff, and new stuff. You know... the usual.
